Do not assume an old Polish registration equals MiCA permission. Verify providers in the ESMA register and calculate tax under PIT rules.

Adoption
A register helps verify the named entity and stated activity. It does not validate every asset, product, or risk.
Official adoption figures are shown with their linked source.
Source by figure: adoption: KNF seminar: 12% of representative Polish adults reported crypto ownership, December 2025
Blue figures are older estimates without a verifiable official source: they are shown as context, not official data, and are not used to rank or score countries.

Do not confuse the old Polish register with MiCA permission: verify the ESMA register before acting.
MiCA becomes fully applicable in the EU on 30 December; providers already operating in Poland could use the Regulation's transitional period.
KNF confirms the transitional period ends on 1 July and Poland has still not designated a competent authority for CASPs, except EMT issuers.

MiCA applies in the EU, but KNF said in June 2026 that, because Poland's implementation law had not entered into force, no national authority was designated to supervise CASPs, except EMT issuers. The transition ended on 1 July 2026 and a Polish virtual-currency activity registration is not MiCA permission. Verify the ESMA Interim MiCA Register.

File PIT-38 from 15 February through 30 April in the year after the tax year. The Tax Administration says to file it for both acquisition and disposal of virtual currency where applicable.

The rate is 19% on income from virtual-currency disposal. Selling for fiat, goods, services, or obligations can be taxable; a crypto-to-crypto swap is not. The Tax Administration requires a return even when crypto is acquired.
