CBE's March 2023 statement reiterates that the Central Bank and Banking System Law 194/2020 prohibits issuing cryptocurrencies, trading or promoting them, creating or operating platforms to trade them, and related activities. CBE says no licence has been issued for those activities in the Egyptian market. Do not use the existence of an app, platform, or market statistic as proof of authorisation.
