Flare is an EVM-compatible L1 whose core protocol products are data: the FTSO oracle delivers decentralized price and series data, and its state connector attests to events on other chains, letting native BTC or XRP exist in Flare applications without centralized bridges. FLR is the gas and staking asset for that system. Its challenge is the eternal oracle one: proving that its data layer wins adoption against incumbents with deeper integrations.

FLR captures value as the staking and gas asset of a network whose products are data services, plus vote-earning mechanics that reward participation in feed provision. The honest question is the same one every oracle chain faces: data demand is real, but whether it converts into sustained token demand depends on applications settling value on Flare rather than only consuming its feeds elsewhere.
FLR launched with a large public distribution and continues emitting rewards to stakers and data providers, with a per-provider stake cap of 3.3 percent designed to keep provision decentralized. Emission schedules and vote-earning rounds are published, so float and inflation are directly checkable on-chain.
Governance runs through staking-weighted participation and the network's protocol decision processes, with the Flare Foundation and developer teams driving roadmap. Data-provider admission and parameter changes are the consequential decisions, and they lean on the same staking mechanics that secure the feeds.
