The DGII consultation distinguishes the lack of a distinct crypto treatment from income that can arise when assets are converted into recognised money. Do not use a generic rate for a real filing.
A DGII consultation confirms that cryptocurrencies are not legal tender, foreign currency, regulated, or supervised, and explains income treatment when converted into recognised money.

DGII's September 2024 consultation says that virtual assets or cryptocurrencies are not regulated, supervised, or afforded recognised legal protection; nor are they foreign currency or legal tender. The consultation also says they are not supervised by the Superintendence of Securities. We do not list platforms because we did not find an official register that turns commercial availability into approval or fund protection.

The DGII consultation addresses a platform that charges commissions in crypto. It says that when that commission is converted into valid, recognised money, it can be taxable income through wealth increase and profit under applicable Tax Code articles. It does not extend that conclusion to every crypto purchase, sale, or investment, or publish one rate.
