Foreign purchase fees depend on the settlement currency
The current Uruguay schedule charges (2.5% + USD 0.50) plus VAT for international purchases settled in dollars, or (2.5% + UYU 14) plus VAT when billed in Uruguayan pesos. Other transaction currencies use Mastercard's rate and related costs capped at 1.5% of the transaction; the app and merchant currency should be checked before payment.
Cash access costs differ between ATMs and Uruguay collection networks
Uruguay ATM withdrawals cost USD 3 plus VAT or UYU 45 plus VAT; Red de Cobranzas withdrawals cost USD 1.90 plus VAT or UYU 35 plus VAT. International ATM withdrawals cost USD 3 plus VAT, and the ATM operator may add a separate service fee.
Small loads can carry fees and account limits still apply
The current schedule makes bank loads above USD 50 or UYU 1,500 free; smaller loads cost USD 1.97 plus VAT or UYU 56.56 plus VAT. Collection-network loads above USD 50 or UYU 500 are free; smaller ones cost USD 1.97 plus VAT or UYU 34.60 plus VAT.
