DGII's September 2024 consultation says that virtual assets or cryptocurrencies are not regulated, supervised, or afforded recognised legal protection; nor are they foreign currency or legal tender. The consultation also says they are not supervised by the Superintendence of Securities. We do not list platforms because we did not find an official register that turns commercial availability into approval or fund protection.

Mexican financial authorities state that virtual assets are not legal tender or foreign currency. Banxico limits credit institutions and Fintech Institutions to authorized internal operations and bars them from offering public virtual-asset exchange, transmission, or custody. Providers that fall within vulnerable activity have SAT/UIF obligations.
